Logo Issues

We used the Blue Discus Systems logo in most of the skin samples for illustrative purposes. When used, the Logo skin component is defined for a particular location and size within the page skin. Unwanted results may occur if the logo is larger than the space defined for it. Coordinating the logo with the page skin in terms of coloring and style is also an important issue. Furthermore, our logo presents additional challenges with its oval shape on a transparent background (rectangular logos are easy in this regard).

When "reasonable enough", we display our logo "as is" in a page skin sample. For some instances, we used a color variant of our logo to blend better with the skin's coloring. Finally, in some cases we modified the underlying skin to include an embedded logo within the background to get a better result for the edges of the logo (i.e. to remove the white "halo" around the edges).

Skin Adjustments

We also adjusted some of the sample skins in minor ways, when necessary.

Some common skin adjustments that may benefit your portal include:

- Adjusting the spacing, size and padding of content panes.

- Changing the embedded skin objects.

- Changing the width characteristics (flexible, fixed, full-screen, etc.).

- Changing graphic elements, including embedding your logo.

- Similar adjustments for containers.

Menu Issues

Some of these sample Page Skins may also not appear as initially intended if its design does not include adequate space for the menu items used in this portal.

FREE Skin Samples

	Blue Gradient Series This skin is part of a FREE skin package developed by Blue Discus Systems. The skin is flexible-width with three content panes and a Slogan Pane in the Header.
	Old Blue Discus This skin was used for the previous version of the Blue Discus Portal. The skin is full-window width with three content panes.
	DNN Blue These series of DNN (DotNetNuke) skins comes FREE with version 3 of the DotNetNuke engine. The skin collection includes various colors, horizontal and vertical menus, and with fixed-width and full-width versions. All skins include Logo, Banner and other skin objects within the skin.
	DNN Gray Vertical Another DNN skin version.
